In 1982 an American family-owned company called IMPEX was founded. After making a deal with Marcy and Escalade to manufacture Marcy gym equipment such as Smith Machines, Multigyms and Weight Benches on a larger scale throughout the US, they quickly established themselves in the fitness industry. Over the years, IMPEX acquired and licensed several high-profile brand names and began manufacturing products for most major sporting goods retailers. In 2005, IMPEX partnered up with a small British company called Puretec Limited, making them the UK and Europe’s only distributor of Marcy and creating a powerful partnership that spans the globe.

Today IMPEX is recognised as an industry leader in fitness manufacturing, with brands such as Marcy, Steelbody and Bionic Body, each brand catering to a specific genre of fitness and has secured its place in virtually every strength market segment of the sporting goods industry. IMPEX and their brands are now a household name, well known for their commitment to offering customers innovative and high-quality products at competitive prices.

Marcy began in 1946 and was founded by fitness pioneer Walter Marcyan who created the first multigym back in 1959. Over the years his work progressed and became more well known and in the 1980s Impex made a deal with Marcy and Escalade to manufacture Marcy gym equipment on a larger scale throughout the US, before moving overseas to the UK and partnering with Puretec Ltd. Marcyan believed that everyone deserved to be able to get fit in a way that suited them but that they should also be provided with the knowledge to do so and stay healthy for as long as possible. Marcy home gym equipment is now a household name, well-known for its high-quality and durability in the home. Every item is precision engineered to provide the customer with something safe to use, comfortable, and reliable.

400m Olympic medalist and part of the legendary 1991 World Championship relay team, Black is widely regarded as one of Britain’s greatest runners. After retiring from athletics in 1998, he launched his career as a motivational speaker, TV personality and owner of Roger Black Fitness.

During the global pandemic, it became increasingly difficult for many businesses to get equipment into the UK due to demand and price increases. So, as a business, we looked for a way around the situation, leading us to create weight plates in the UK. Being Made In Britain meant we were helping keep British people in jobs, creating less pollution as they didn’t have to travel overseas, and allowing ourselves the opportunity to reduce the need to rely on international manufacturers. Once the plates were made (from recycled scrap metal), we chose to source our boxes in the UK too, and by picking and packing them in our warehouse, we are reducing our carbon footprint and supporting the British economy.

Whilst the eco-weight plates are our first venture into Made In Britain equipment; the success means we can now continue to source British made equipment. By shopping our Made in Britain range, you are helping the environment, the British economy and showing that we can be Proud To Be British!

Everlast is well-known as the one of the oldest premier boxing equipment companies around. Worn regularly by famous boxers like Deontay Wilder & Muhammad Ali, Everlast has spent over 100 years building its name and reputation as a high-quality, durable boxing manufacturer. Everlast was founded back in 1910 by Jacob Golomb and was originally a swimwear company. In 1917, the company was approached by a young fighter named Jack Dempsey, who requested they design and make him some special training gear that would last him more than 15 rounds. Dempsey went on to win the World Heavyweight Championship wearing Everlast Boxing Gloves in 1919. This fame resulted in Everlast becoming the leading name in boxing equipment worldwide and one of the most recognisable boxing brands in the world.

BH Fitness (Beistegui Hermanos), part of the BH Company, was founded in 1909 in Northern Spain by the Beistegui Brothers Domingo, Juan and Cosme. BH Fitness started it’s journey as a steel products manufacturer for the weapons industry until 1919 when they began to apply their steel industry experience to manufacturing pedal bicycles. Over the years the brand grew and branched out into other types of health and fitness equipment, and in the 1960s formed the BH Fitness division in an effort to respond to the growing demand for quality fitness equipment. This new division saw warehouses and factories begin manufacturing in countries such as Mexico and Portugal alongside the original Spain factory.
